Ken(DJ)のことか

ザ・ドリフターズ（ドリフターズ）
1964年結成。ハードコア・ダブ・ユニットの先駆けとして60年代後半のアンダーグラウンドシーンを席巻。
1967年、方向性の違いからリーダーIkariaとギタリストYasushiOnoが対立。
Yasushiは当初メンバーだったG-Yoshidaらを引き抜き「ドンキーカルテット」を結成。
Ikariaは残ったChar(Dr.)、他バンドに在籍中のCo-G(G.)、Chu-Arai(Key.)、Boo(G.)らを誘い「ドリフターズ」としてユニットを再編。
69年にはビートルズの前座を務めるなど華々しい躍進を遂げ、72年のアルバム「Gather 8:00」、翌年の「Zoom-Doco Songs」でその地位を不動のものとした。
その一方で、以前からフロア志向を公言し、シカゴハウス・ムーブメントに強い関心を寄せていたChuがユニットから離れ、代替メンバーとしてDJ.Ken が起用される。
77年にはブリット・プログレッシブを強く意識した問題作「Die Back Show」を発表、以後レイブを中心に活動。
84年の東京レイブは、停電による暗闇の中での五時間に及ぶアンプラグド・インスト演奏で伝説のアクトとなった。
1985年、Ikariaは「全てをやり尽くした」と言い残しユニットの活動を一時停止。
以降は散発的にユニットとしての活動を続けながら、それぞれのソロ活動が目立つようになる。
DJ.KenとCharは「Cut&Ken」を結成、日本におけるノイズシーンを牽引。
ハワイアン・フォーク・サウンドに強く傾倒していたBooはCo-Gと共にアンプラグド作品を幾つか発表した。
リーダーIkariaは俳優業に転じ銀幕の舞台で活躍。
ハリウッド進出も果たし今後の活躍を期待されていたが、2004年に癌により死去。
ジャパニーズ・アンダーグラウンドの帝王と呼ばれた巨匠の死とともに、ドリフターズの40年の歴史にピリオドが打たれた。
